Deamons and Monsters

by Sue Ioannidis
(Stein, Limburg, The Netherlands)

Dreams about my future
About what I wanna do
I still have them
I still dream
But I know they won't come true

I breathe and I'm alive
I'm just like anyone
I still walk
I still smile
So nothing can be wrong

But the daemons and the monsters
Invisible to the world
They're right inside my head
They will not go away

Just for one moment
I really would like
For you to see the unseen
And then maybe you would understand
The way I really feel

Judgements made by others
About how boring I can be
I still hear them
I still feel them
It won't disappear

Luckily there's a refuge
For when I'm feeling down
I still got my guitar
I still can play
At least, I can for now

The deamons and the monsters
Invisible to the world
They're right inside my head
They will not go away
Just for one moment
I really would like
For you to see the unseen
And then maybe you would understand
The way I really feel

Sometimes I do get lonely
Even frustrated
Why can't they at least try
To get to know me before they judge
Conclusions are made so easy
When from the outside you look alright
But on the inside you are crying
No matter how hard you try

Sometimes I do get scared
Scared for what's to come
Scared to fall in love
Scared to open up
Oh I can deal with the pain
I'm trying to be strong
But I can't deal without trust
And I've been without it for too long

The daemons and the monsters
Invisible to the world
They're right inside my head
They will not go away
Just for one moment
I really would like
For you to see the unseen
And then maybe you would understand
The way I really feel
