Organizations

by Angela Musselman
(Union City, Mi.)

My brother and I host a charity event. We have been rotating who we benefit each year. This year we would like to benefit MS, but I'm having a hard time finding an organization. We would like to find a local organization that benefits people directly. Do you have any information?

Organizations in Michigan?
by: Akrista

Hi Angela,

What a great thing that you and your brother are doing! Unfortunately, we are in NE Ohio. If you are looking for places here, I would suggest the Oak Clinic in Uniontown, Ohio. It is a clinic specifically for MS patients in this area.

3838 Massillon Rd # 360,
Uniontown, OH 44685-7965
(330) 896-9625
Mr. Oelschlager, a generous philanthropist and a man who also has multiple sclerosis, built the Oak Clinic. He wanted a place for people who don't always have the money to pay for their MS medical care.

If you are looking to benefit places near you in Michigan, try the local National MS Society chapter. Here is the info for the one in Michigan:

Michigan Chapter
21311 Civic Center Drive
Southfield, MI 48076
Phone: 248-350-0020
Email: INFO@MIG.NMSS.ORG
Website: Michigan Chapter website

They should be able to steer you to local organizations that would benefit from your charity event.

Your doctor or a local neurological specialist might be another good place to start. They will be the ones most likely to deal with MS patients. They may be able to tell you of a local organization that deals directly with MSers.

It would be great if you could update this post and let us know who you and your brother choose. Thanks so much for your generosity. With more people like you, MS will soon be a thing of the past.
