Sherry's Profile
Name: Sherry K. of Youngstown, OH
Year DX'd: 1995
About Sherry:
I was dx'd in 1995...after a visit to a neurologist, and an MRI. Also, I went to the MS Clinic in St. Louis, Mo. And was seen by various ones. I had blood work to rule out other illnesses that maybe suggesting the same symptoms. I had neurological exams done, and was ordered a CSF done. (That will be another subject later on with that....experience) Spinal headaches.
At the time of my dx....I was suffering overwhelming fatigue, double vision, numbness mainly on my left side. And no matter what, I pushed myself, not knowing the outcome. By the time I did seek rest, it was too late and I wasn't getting the proper rest. I learned to discipline myself in respects of resting when I should...even for short periods. And not waiting until the end of the day...
My husband had been in an industrial accident, and I had to attend to his needs. I was having to drive him to appointments and trying tend to his needs in general, so to speak. Dealing with his doctors, and such as goes with work-related accidents. And the mental changes he was experiencing due to his head injury, and lack of working.
So before I was dx'd...I didn't know what was going on with me. Thought it was just stress related ...due to everything I had been dealing with him. I let myself go on for years, before I decided to find out what was wrong...
As the years progressed, I have experienced various symptoms, and despite set backs I have made it through.
At the present time..., I am part of a clinical trial. Not only to help me, but hopefully through these trials they might come a bit closer to finding some answers for us all with this unpredictable illness MS.
