Suggestion for the Middle-aged woman

by Jane D.
(Indiana)

Hello--My 36 years with MS (and no injectables) has given me some ideas which may or may not help another. When I was around 45, I learned about PremPro, which resulted in NO periods. It's gotten a bad rap in recent years, but there must be something else these days that accomplishes the same end.

Besides that, sometimes it boils down to the worse of two evils. I guess many people have returned to it for various reasons, although I have never heard that MS is one. LOL

I had always noticed a hormonal component to my MS--it seemed like I was my worst on the androgen side of the equation. In any case, after a trial on hormone pills, I was given PremPro by my GYN.

I noticed a VERY positive effect--especially, it seemed, on the pain aspect. Everything just seemed much more EVEN during the month, and what a blessing that was! It might be worthwhile for you fellow MS Ladies to discuss this with your neuros or GYN's.

Good luck! If not this method there are no doubt others now which mean no or fewer periods which is the objective!
Cheers!
Jane

Thanks for the info Jane!
by: Terri

I have tried three different injectables and they all make me not want to get out of bed. One of them almost caused me to take my life it caused such bad depression. I found one that works now without much side effects except I am a walking bruise and can't wear shorts or tank tops. This is hard in Florida, especially when my MS worsens because of heat.

I am going to discuss this option with my neuro. He is very into "whatever helps YOU without hurting you I'm all for" so I will see what his thoughts are. Thanks again and thanks for the comments on my story. I hate this disease, but it helps so much to talk to people who are going through the same thing.

XOXO

Terri

Wow, Jane!
by: Akrista

It's great that you have maintained this many years (36) without the help of any of the injection medications. In hind site, Cir wishes he hadn't taken any either. But he's doing very well, so maybe it was for the best.

Your suggestion for Prempo or something similar will hopefully help other women with similar symptoms.

Thanks for sharing!
